"Our mission is to provide our clients with innovative and cost effective engineering solutions to promote their competitiveness in the market place. In the process we wish to enhance the quality of life of all our people, in particular those from a previously disadvantaged background. We see our mission as being achieved through a proud and motivated staff, and the end result will be prosperity for all."
Ivo Huisman founded our practice in 1988 in Port Elizabeth. Initially he was recognised as a structural expert, but in due course expanded into Geotechnical as well as Civil Engineering. The practices’ work load distribution is approximately 60% Civil works, 20% Building and Structures, 10% Geotechnical and 10% Project Management. We ensure that our staff are continually attending extensive and varied courses.
Since the establishment of the practice in excess of 1200 projects have been registered. It is our pride that we have never been found professionally negligent nor have we had to concede damages to a client.
P. I. cover is as required by the SA Association of Consulting Engineers. We have a formal Quality Management System (QMS) in place.
Since inception our practice has promoted Black Empowerment either through teaching life skills to black children, or training young engineers or technicians. We also promote tertiary education with our bursary scheme, this is an ongoing process. Our staff complement is 60% from historically disadvantaged communities.
As a matter of policy we target unemployed students, without work experience. We employ one such person a year for a two year training period. Thereafter they are empowered to negotiate a new future for themselves in the work place.
We actively support our governments’ transformation programs and have been involved in Black Empowerment since 1984 when Ivo Huisman taught children in Soweto Township over weekends, as a volunteer.
In accordance with Government Policy regarding codes of practice on BEE, our practice qualifies at rating Level 2. This is 100% BEE Compliance.
